The Lincoln Park Zoo
Zoos are one of the number one vacation attractions in the United States, if not the entire world. People enjoy going to any zoo, as each on seems to have its’ own particular angle in how to present the wildlife, as well as its’ own particular breeds. There are a few zoos, however, that seem to set the level for all the others to reach for. These are usually big city zoo’s, such as the San Francisco Zoo, the New York Zoo, and our focus today, the Chicago, Illinois Zoo.
The Chicago Zoo has a great number of aspects that make it one of the more notable wildlife sanctuaries today. One point of interest is that, as most zoos make themselves a great way to spend a couple of hours amidst a massive day of sightseeing attractions, the Chicago Zoo has gone the extra mile and made itself the entire day! One would have to set aside a minimum of eight hours to see every sight and enjoy every activity that is to be had here.
Of course, first and foremost are always the animals. This zoo has an amazing collection of different types of wildlife from all over the earth. The sounds of the animals can be heard from all over the park as one walks through, almost reminiscent of taking a stroll in some distant South American or African jungle. There are the usual characters, Lions, Bears, and elephants, but so much more too. There are Penguins, Sea Lions, Sans, Flamingos, Antelope, Zebras, Polar Bears, Leaf Cutter Ants, Frogs, and virtually any other non-human creature that you can imagine. The Chicago Zoo even features several thousand forms of aviary wildlife.
The fun does not stop with the animals. There are also a wide variety of fun filled rides for the children and the parents to share, such as the AT&T Endangered Species Carousel. On this traditional type carousel, you will mount the backs of various forms of almost instinct animals and ride them around in a circle. If you need a break from the constant walking and have restless kids, you can keep them occupied while you kick back and enjoy a nice rest on the Paddle Boat Rides. On these paddleboats designed to look like giant swans, your family can paddle around a small placid lake for a half an hour. This makes for a great rest period. There is no reason at all to leave the Lincoln Park Zoo during your visit, as there are several different caf’s, Diners and Restaurants all throughout the park for when you or the children get hungry. These are all extremely affordable too. There are also a number of gift shops for getting a little something to remember your trip by or as a gift to someone special that could not make this wondrous Chicago journey with you.
