Designer Shoes: Are Expensive Shoes Worth It?

Is it true that the more expensive a pair of shoes is, the better is the quality and the more comfortable it will be? Are designer shoes worth the additional money that you could have otherwise spent on other items? Let’s take a look at designer shoes and why they are more expensive.

What contributes to the price of a pair of shoes?

1. Material

The more expensive the material used, the pricier will be the pair of shoes. Leathers or specialty materials such as will play a part in establishing the final price of a pair of shoes. In general, the more expensive the materials used to make the shoe, the more it will cost. When you are looking at shoes next time, take a pair of cheap shoes, and pair them up against something in the $100 dollar range. The differences will be striking. You will probably notice that the materials in the expensive shoe revolve around natural materials, and will feel luxurious. The cheap shoe will probably be made with synthetic materials, and look slightly uneven, and may be off shaped a bit. You may see defects in the workmanship as well.

2. Manufacturing Costs, Designer Cost & Research

The more research that is done on the pair of shoes, the pricier it will be. For example, if the amount of money spent on researching a pair of durable and comfy shoes is high, most probably, the price of that pair of shoes is high too. Research also includes design. When you look at “designer” shoes, the word comes from the fact that there is someone who creates the look. The more sought after the designer, and the more in demand their style, the more the shoes will cost. This part is purely a supply demand issue. Great designers can demand high prices.

The cost of manufacturing the pair of shoes also plays a part in establishing the price of the shoes. If the shoes are made with limited stocks, the price would be higher. Other special techniques such as handcrafting techniques also contribute a part in the price of the shoes.

3. Branding

The more established a brand is, the pricier the pair of shoes would be. This goes back to the point that the higher the demand, the higher the cost.

This brings us back to our original question. Is a designer pair of shoes worth the money? The answer is yes and no. If you are looking at a shoe that is extremely high priced because everyone wants one, then you need to use common sense and realize that part of the mark up is due to the demand. The yes part to the answer is that a well made shoe with good materials, and one that fits well on your feet is worth the money. And that price needs to be relative to the style, and design.

In general, the better pair of shoes will be such that you can take it to a shoe repair company and have it re soled over and over, and have the leather re finished over and over. If you have a pair that you take care of, over time you will actually come out ahead. How many cheap pairs of shoes do you go through in a year? What if you just purchased 1-2 pairs of well made shoes a year?

Lastly, with the advent of online companies, and outlet stores, you can get well made shoes at more than half off the list price. At the end of the day, a well made shoe is worth a purchase because it will fit you better, wear better, and last longer. You can also find well made shoes at discount prices, making the decision even easier.

Fasion Tips for Plus Size Shorts

Filed under: Clothing — awright @ 12:00 am

There’s no reason why plus size women can’t wear plus size shorts during the warm months of the year. Too often I see women walking around in hot weather wearing long pants, and I assume it’s because they’re self conscious about their legs. But there’s no reason for that! Flaunt what you’ve got, and even if you’re still not comfortable, don’t turn that into self conscious and uncomfortable. If you think about it logically, lack of sun on your legs may be one of the reasons that you think they stand out.

If you need to ease into the shorts world, start with a fairly neutral pair of khaki plus size shorts that are of average length. Nothing too long or too short. Make sure they have traditional pockets on the back and don’t taper down the leg. You don’t want them to be tight around the bottom of the leg opening. You can pair these shorts up with almost anything, like a dressy blouse or a tank top and flip flops. You can dress up or down with them. And most importantly, you’ll look great and you’ll be comfortable at the same time.

Be sure and look for material that has some give to it. By that, I mean look for a cotton blend that has some stretchable material weaved into it so that the shorts can more easily move with you. And, as much as it pains me to say it, don’t be afraid of elastic waistbands in some, but not all, of your shorts. I say some because they’re very comfortable and practical and can be easily worn with shirts that cover the waistband up. You won’t always want to wear shirts or blouses that hang out over the top of your shorts, though. There will be situations where you want to tuck a shirt in, and in that case an elastic waistband is not appropriate.

When looking at length, the standard rule is that shorts that fall one inch above your knee are the most flattering. They split the line between too tall and too short, and for most body types, give the best break between the ground and your upper legs. But don’t take that as a hard and fast rule, because the most important aspect is if they look good or not. If they’re an inch too high or an inch too low and they look great, then there’s really not a problem.

Southwestern Purses Enhance Western Style And Apparel

Filed under: Clothing — gmimexico @ 12:00 am

Southwestern purses are a brilliant mix of style and fashion, ideal for your western attire. Probably some of the most important components in a woman’s wardrobe, purses and handbags provide a safe place for necessary items while making a fashion statement at the same time. Choosing a southwestern purse, or a southwestern tote to use on your daily activities, becomes a form of personal expression and a way for you to show your individual style.

When you think of southwestern style, what usually comes to mind is warm colors, bright fabrics, and detailed Native design. This style is a unique blend of many cultures melded together that originated in the southwestern part of the United States. The exquisite colors you come across used in southwest design and attire, came from the beauty of nature and the colors found in the ever changing desert. From the rich reds and yellows representing the earthen clay and desert vegetation, to the neutral browns and grays, found in the beautiful desert, these colors have become the palette of southwestern style and are interwoven to make designer southwestern style totes and bags.

One of the most popular colors used in southwest style and decor, Taos blue was first introduced by the Spanish as a way to ward off evil spirits, and is often used to make beautiful southwestern totes and western purses. Along with the interesting colors used in southwestern style clothing and decor, you will also come across intriguing Native designs, geometric shapes, and symbols used on many southwest purses, handbags and totes. These designs often have special meaning for the Native Indians, but many are used only for decoration.

It is easy to add Native American style to your wardrobe with a unique southwestern bag or tote. No matter which kind of southwestern purse or handbag you like, you will find a variety to choose from. You might see unique southwest style purses in expensive gift shops and western stores, but you will almost always find a better deal online. Online businesses often sell their products at a fraction of the cost, and have a better selection to choose from than expensive gift stores. However you use your bag, whether as a book bag or tote or simply as an accessory to your southwestern or western style apparel, southwestern purses and tote bags are a terrific way to show off your personal look and express your love for the southwest.

Western style handbags also make wonderful gifts for those who love having a variety of purses, enjoy Native American culture and traditions, or for those who simply like southwestern accessories. With all the many colorful totes with cowboy designs, leather purses, canvas bags with Native American symbols, and western style handbags available, you will no doubt find the right purse to express your style. If you enjoy southwestern or western apparel and need the perfect accessory to compliment your style, there is no better way to dress up great western clothing than with southwestern purses.

A New Mom’s Guide in Buying Baby Clothes

Filed under: Clothing — artgib @ 12:00 am

Being a new mom is a hard obstacle to face. Having the task of figuring out which baby clothes are the ones to buy is almost as difficult as the first task. You wouldn’t want to dress your baby in something that is uncomfortable yet cute looking, but you wouldn’t exactly want to dress your baby in an outfit so dry. You want something that caters to your baby’s needs at the same time be a bit stylish as well. Yet the question is, “How?”

Wanting to dress our babies in the most unique baby clothes is one thing, but going out and finding cool baby clothes is a whole new ball game. Before you go out and start shopping and buying everything you think is important, here are some tips that will help you come up with a good wardrobe for your baby and determine which baby clothes are needed and which ones are just extras.

One important thing to remember when buying baby clothes is that the transition from the small baby to a toddler can happen in a blink of an eye. When you think about the first few months, you have to prepare your closet for approximately a year. Baby clothes go by 3 months which means you should be getting sizes from: 0 to 3 months, 3 to 6 months, and then 6 to 9 months.

The main factors in choosing baby clothing are defined by three “S” factors. These factors are Sleeping wear, Sensible, and Show off. If you buy baby clothing that is sensible enough to undergo stains, milk spills and the like, but which is also comfortable to nap in, then you are hitting two factors with one stone. Add a little jazz to that comfy onesie with a witty line, or cool graphics, then you have duly accomplished the show off factor successfully.

Sleeping wear is crucial for fussy babies who have a lot trouble falling asleep. The comfortable baby clothing will surely make your baby relax. You should also consider the ease of which the baby clothes will provide you when changing diapers. With a one-two-three unsnap, you will not have a hard time undressing the baby.

Showing off your baby is perhaps the best part of buying baby clothes as a mom gets to dress her baby in the smartest looking and unique baby clothes she can think of. Like everybody else, your baby has personality, and it is up to you to express it to the fullest. You can take your pick from designer baby clothes, newborn baby clothes, and some cheap cool baby clothes. Think about the possibilities and connect that with the baby clothing. However, you should keep in mind that small additional objects might be harmful to your baby, so you just might write that off your list.

Remember that when you are buying baby clothes for your little one, it is his comfort that must be your main priority. Showing your baby off through his unique baby clothes comes last. It should be his comfort then your ease in taking care of him or her that comes next. Then comes the part where you show him off. Show him off as best as you can but never at his expense.

Pair them up with a sweatshirt and a sash and you can hang out at your favorite greasy spoon in the ultimate comfort. Plus size jackets are sometimes an after thought, but should be at the forefront of your mind especially when seasonal transitions are near. Plus Size Designer Maternity Clothes

Filed under: Clothing — awright @ 12:00 am

So you’re going to be a mom in a few short months and you’re worried about plus size maternity clothes? Congratulations! You’re in for an adventure that will be the most incredible thing you’ve ever done. So take a minute and relax, take a deep breath, and enjoy the moment while looking forward to everything you’re going to experience in the near future. Next, let’s talk about how you’re going to look your best during your pregnancy and highlight that beautiful glow that comes with the package and making the most of it.

Bottom line up front - plus size maternity clothes may take a little effort to find. But once you get your sources lined up and know where to look you’re going to have a lot of fun. There are more cut lines out today than ever before, and you’re going to have a lot more fun dressing up than your mother did.

I was surprised to find that JCPenny has some great lines, and even if you don’t end up buying clothes there they can give you some great ideas of what to put together and the different things that you can do with cute tops and wraps. Look for skirts that have a drawstring waist to allow for growth in the tummy area; lighter fabrics for summer and heavier fabrics for winter. Don’t be shy about wearing bright colors in the winter - all this dull, dreary winter clothing can really sap your mood. There’s nothing like a fun, bright skirt to really brighten up a room when it’s gray and dull outside.

Gap and Old Navy will frequently have a somewhat limited selection of plus size maternity wear on their shelves. Be sure to look for shirts that bring your waistline up high with a pretty tie or bunched fabric, and have a flowing, loose lower section. While pregnant, you will really want to accentuate and draw some looks to your midsection, and these shirts are very comfortable and will fit you the entire time you’re carrying. There’s nothing worse than dressing in baggy, frumpy clothes so no one is quite sure if you’re wearing plus size maternity clothes or just old, ill fitting clothes that should have been disposed of years ago.

As a final thought, find a good care provider who is in tune with your size and some of the challenges that you will face, but won’t treat you like some sort of statistic to be managed. You’re going to be spending a lot of time at their office, so if you find yourself worrying about your next appointment because of poor treatment, find someone else! Doctors are certainly not in short supply, and with a little bit of social networking you’re sure to be able to find one that will treat you in a manner that you deserve, and make the experience as enjoyable as it should be. And, finally, make sure you have a wonderful time filled with good health and plenty of excellent plus size maternity clothes.

Important People in Plus Size Design

Filed under: Clothing — awright @ 12:00 am

Why should we use our precious free time education ourselves about plus size designers? Most of the time our first reaction is to shun a big-time name on a tag, and even actively avoid labels with an industry name on it for no other reason than to assert our independence. But it’s actually not that simple, and becoming familiar with and following plus size designers can actually offer you some benefit when it comes to plus size clothes shopping. And remember, not every brand has to be ridiculously costly; there are an abundance of designers out there who carry great lines at sensible prices. The scam is to locate them, which is where this article can offer some insight.

Monif C.
Also known as Monif C. she owns Monif C. Plus Sizes and puts out some really great clothing lines year in and year out. After her childhood in Brooklyn, Monif found her motivation within herself and began to design plus size clothes. Her stated aim is to provide plus size women with attractive plus size designer fashions that makes them feel chic, inspired, luxurious and sexy.

Yuliya Zeltser
After going shopping with her mother in 1997 and finding an awful lack of superior plus size designers in the business, she decided to start her own label, and IGIGI was started. Her objective is to make every woman feel sensual, feminine, secure and gorgeous. In my opinion, her lines are some of the best you’ll find.

Anna Nicole
Anna Nicole runs a store with an online presence known as Jahqoi, which means “I believe” if pronounced correctly in French. Anna grew up in Detroit and claims to have begun making clothes at 12. She does her finest work with contemporary styles, and is quickly making a name for herself in the industry of plus size designers.

Meet Bek
Bek had a flourishing career in corporate America until health problems forced her to retire early from her job. To help bridge the gap in the family income, she started making jewelry and selling it on one ecommerce site called Etsy. She has been unbelievably successful, and caters to the little-known market segment of plus size jewelry. Her designs are magnificent, and focus on mid century modern design.

For me, becoming familiar with the plus size designers behind the lines is just one part of the plus size clothing familiarity, and studying their lines as they grow and change over time is exciting and thrilling. The world of plus size designers is an evolving industry, and it’s getting more and more notice every day with more high-quality designers and retail space than ever before. Keep your eye on some of the new and rising talent to stay ahead of the crowd.
