Tips For Evaluation Of Live Answering Services

Filed under: Small Business — amitkheterpal @ 12:00 am

As a home based small business owner there are several advantages you get but you face several disadvantages. Especially around receiving the calls, you want to sound professional but with so many tasks you are dealing with as a small business owner that may not happen all the time.

Just imagine that instead of you your kid answered the phone, how damaging that will be for the business. Also there is an element of hierarchy involved here, you as CEO of the company answering the phone directly does not sound well to customers ears.

If you look around there are several options to outsource you answering hassles. The companies offer several ways to do this. You can go for a live operator answering the phone and the transferring the call to you or you can have a call center handle all the call for you as well as make sure that your voice mail messages are responded to. The call center option is usually expensive but the service they offer is unmatched in quality.

The cost can vary based on the service you require but here are the basic costs that the companies charge. There is a one time set up fee which can range from $20 to anything like $300.

Also there is a monthly plan you can choose from and if you for the live operator the costs can vary based on what you want the live operator to do once the call received. The live operator can take down the message or can take the call and act upon it which my usually involve getting details of the customers credit card number etc. The costs go up if you need the live operator to take some action as opposed to just taking down the message.

The other fee is the fee of handling each call which is over and above the one time fee and the monthly plan fee. These calls are charged on a per call basis beginning with $1 per call. Some companies throw in some freebies like free 50 calls per month and charge from the 51st call each month.

Based on the above costs you can take an intelligent decision about outsourcing you call handling activities. Make sure that you get a free trial for a month or so and also the contract has some exit clauses. There should service level agreements in the contract so that in case of bad service you are able to get the contact cancelled.

How to Use Fire Extinguishers

Filed under: Small Business — alexstacey @ 12:00 am

Fire safety is a major concern everywhere, and it is unusual that so many people do not know how to use one. This procedure should be taught at home by parents as well as every department of a firm should have fire safety classes, that not only teach people what to do in case there is ever an actual fire.

Fire extinguishers are color coded and by law each office or building has to be inspected by a fire extinguisher expert, to determine where the best place to place a fire extinguisher, and also determine what type of fire and extinguisher the designated spot might have. Class A fires are fires that are caused by paper, wood, plastics, and other rubbish, and usually occur mostly in a home around a kitchen Class F fires caused from burning pans,or laundry rooms.

Class C fires are caused by bad wiring, machinery, short circuits, and sparks that may come from bad switches, controls, or even some motors. Class C fires can happen in the home as well as the work place. Class D fires usually happen at a work place as they involve some flammable types of metals.

There is a word that you can remember, that will actually help you use a fire extinguisher if the need should ever arise. P pull the pin A aim the nozzle below the flames P press the lever as gently as possible if the fire extinguisher has been recently charged, the lever may need a little bit more pressure to press it M kneel low and move the nozzle from one left to right as you press the lever.

A good type of fire extinguisher that should be kept next to the electricity box is a blue labeled, powder base fire extinguisher. Never use a water based fire extinguisher on an electrical fire. There are fire extinguishers that use a powder for extinguishing these types of fires, and they will have a blue color coded sticker on the outside, instead of a red sticker. Always make sure if it is an electrical fire, to turn off the power to the electrical box before you start to extinguish it.

There are fire extinguishers that use foam and CO2 for some types of fires which would probably be used in a particular work station. Both these types should not be used for long periods of time because of the fumes and they may interfere with your breathing. The foam fire extinguishers are coded with a cream colored sticker, and the CO2 extinguisher will have a black symbol on the outside sticker. Some fire extinguishers can be found in larger restaurant kitchens, and are color coded with a yellow sticker.

Always remember if you think a fire is too large to try to put out with a fire extinguisher do not even try, smoke and the flames could spread fast enough to keep you from getting out safely. As you leave any rooms remember to always close the doors behind you to try and prevent the fire from spreading.

The ways to start a small home business on the Internet continue to increase almost daily. There is no doubt that anyone that truly wants to can make money online.

However there are a few things that you must personally be accountable for to ensure your success. We are going to look at three of those in this article.

1. Are you in it for long term income or short term cash? This is a question that I do not see asked very often, and yet it’s very important point. The type of small home business that you are going to run should be determined on what your goals are.

If you just need to make some money right now to pay some bills how you go about that on the Internet will be different than if you have a long term goal to quit your job for example! The way that you approach working your small home business on a daily basis will be determined by what that goal is.

2. Because there are millions of small businesses you can start it will be important that you take the time to research everything thoroughly. Even starting a free home business is something you should research inside out.

Your research should include determining what market you want to be in, what product you are going to sell, and how you are going to structure your business to accomplish things every day. If you put together a solid game plan in the beginning you will be way ahead of those who don’t.

3. One final thing that I also do not see discussed a lot is that you are going to have to educate yourself on running a small home business on the Internet. Not only will this mean developing the skills it takes, but it also means keeping up to date on what is going on in the marketplace.

How business is conducted on the Internet is constantly changing. Popular ways to promote your business today may be out of date tomorrow! Staying on top of it and being educated is an extremely important facet of running a home business.

These are three small home business tips that you definitely need to be aware of and work at all the time. Keeping your goals in front of you, researching the proper business and how to run a successfully, and staying educated on rapid changes in the marketplace, are all extremely important.

Credit Tips For Small Business Owners

It is shocking that nearly all small-businesses fail in their first months or years of business. One of the primary flaws of the way people run their businesses is being lax when it comes to book keeping and cash flows. It is important for business owners to follow some simple but imperative steps in order to go maintain the success of your business.

One major flaw for new business owners is that they often do not have enough capital, or cash. This is caused by an underestimate of expenses and an overestimation of revenue. Make sure that you do not run out of capital by being conservative with your revenue and expense estimates. It may mean the difference between success and failure for your business.

Another important aspect of your business is attaining forms of business credit, like a business credit card or loan. It is difficult for business owners to understand what is completely necessary to get these types of loans. Quite often, business owners are not given an explanation to their rejection for business credit accounts, and therefore cannot fix the problems they’ve encountered.

One important thing that business owners should do to help ensure their success in credit application is become incorporated. It is a dire mistake for business owners to establish a sole proprietorship. One of these is because you are personally liable for anything that happens with the company. If your company gets sued, your company isn’t the only thing at stake - so is your home, your car, your personal accounts, and every other asset you own. Small business owners should never start sole proprietorships. They also experience taxation policies that are not helpful. If you are registered as a corporation, then you are going to get better credit and will be more successful financing your business. Incorporating your business makes it separates it from you as a legal entity.

In addition, small business owners who open sole proprietorships will use their personal credit accounts to finance their business. But doing this only deepens debt and further puts your business at risk from suffering from poor credit. Instead, incorporating your business allows business owners to attain business credit lines and avoid this dilemma. Incorporating your business actually gives you access to more capital and will improve your chances of success.

Business owners should also consider LLCs, or limited liability corporations. These offer the benefits of a corporation without the downfalls of a corporation. In addition, they protect individuals from having their personal assets taken from them if they are sued or if their company is sued.

It is important for business owners to take these steps in order to maximize their chance of credit acceptance and to maximize their capital. This is one of the surest ways to ensure business success. It is important for business owners to establish good credit and to have the right kind of business so that they can be approved for funding that will increase capital and allow for expansion and growth.

Small Business Is About Perseverance

Filed under: Small Business — CashMiller @ 12:00 am

It’s those times that try your patience the most that you need to remind yourself of why you became a small business owner in the first place. Its things like having the freedom to make your own decisions. The chance for you to build a company of your own instead of someone else’s. It’s the opportunity to take on the competition and show that you are better at what you do than they are. Or maybe you want to create a better workplace for your employees. Maybe you even want to use your small business to give back to the community.

Whatever your reasons are sometimes you need to step back from the day to day grind and take some time to remind yourself of them. Make some time for yourself. Consider what it is you are working for. Occasionally small business owners need to do a reality check of their situation. Is everything ultimately going the way you planned or has it veered off course somewhere? Do you still think you have the same drive that you did when you first started? Or are you getting tired of everything. A small business owner’s life is not an easy one regardless of what your employees may sometimes think. It is actually a lot of hard work.

After you have taken the time to evaluate the situation and if you still believe that you have the motivation and drive to make it a success then you need to knuckle down and get back to work. Most businesses will not be overnight successes they will take a lot of willpower and determination on your part for them to succeed. That is when you need to remember that your perseverance will pay off in the long run. And it will if you are able to just stick it out.

So for your own sake keep these things in mind. You worked hard just to get where you are today. You probably had a lot of people that didn’t think you could survive this long. Not only have you survived but you should be even more motivated to continue making your small business into a success. Running a small business has always been and always will be about persevering. And you may from time to time start to feel like a pinball shooting around a machine. You just need to occasionally take a moment to yourself and remember what you are doing it all for. Whatever your reasons they were good enough for you in the beginning they should be good enough now as well. If you are willing to persevere you can win out.
