Top 5 Ways To Use Web 2.0 for Web Marketing

Filed under: Building Traffic — joconnor @ 12:00 am

Web 2.0 and Web marketing is a match made in heaven. There are many ways to create traffic to your website using the power of Web 2.0. Below I am going to examine what I consider to be the top five.

Jack Humphrey, a well-known Web 2.0 expert, defines it this way in his Authority Black
Book:

Generally speaking, if people can submit links to content, submit content, make comments and vote good/bad content up/down thus affecting the amount of traffic that content can generate, it’s Web 2.0.

Blogs, wikis, file sharing sites, content rating systems, book-marking sites, and social networking sites are all examples of Web 2.0. Some of the more well-known Web 2.0 sites are YouTube (file sharing), Facebook and MySpace (social networking), Wikipedia (wiki), BlinkList (book-marking) and Digg (content rating system). The list is almost endless, and the traffic that these websites generate is absolutely staggering.

So how can you harness some of this traffic?

1) Create original, quality and compelling content and submit them to Web 2.0 websites.
For example, if you write an original and compelling article, you can submit it to content sharing and content rating system websites such as Digg, Propeller, Newsvine MarkTD or Reddit. Sometimes there content sharing and content rating system websites that specializes in a particular industry. MarkTD specializes in marketing, for example.

When you submit your article to these sites, people will give it a vote, and each vote moves the article up where it can be seen by more and more people. This has the potential of creating a lot of traffic for your website since each reader will need to click on the link to go to your site to read the full article. And you’re building a permanent link pointing to your website that can be followed for months and years to come. (And don’t forget, a link from a quality site to your website helps in your search engine rankings too.)

Or you can create an original video and submit it to YouTube. Here it will get rated and possibly seen by many people. If the video contains your website or a plug for your business, then all the better. YouTube is not the only video sharing website however. There are many, and one video can be submitted to them all. This same concept applies to your original images, photographs, digital art and audio files.

2) Web 2.0-ize other people’s sites that contain a link back to your website
I’ll assume you already know how your bookmarks (or Favorites) work in your browser. There are websites that exist that act in the same way, but the bookmarks you set are public. BlinkList and Simpy are two examples of this. People’s public bookmarks are browsed by others and lead to clicks to the sites you’ve bookmarked. So be sure to bookmark your business website and inner pages that are important.

Also, these bookmarks can appear in search results in engines like Google and Yahoo. And some even think that search engines use book-marking sites in their algorithms, although this has not been conclusively proven. Simpy and BlinkList are two more examples of these kinds of Web 2.0 book-marking sites.

Let’s say you write an original, quality article and post it to your business website. Then let’s say you submit the article to a handful of content rating websites like some of the ones explained above. To further market this article, you can then use social book-marking sites to bookmark the page on the content rating websites that list your new article and that contain a link back to your article. This can be very powerful.

Or let’s say you notice that an authority in your industry has a link on its website that points back to your website. Go ahead and bookmark the page on the authority site, thus marketing it, which in turn markets your site as well. One particular Web 2.0 website that is very popular and can generate tons of traffic is StumbleUpon. This site allows people to give any page you deem worthy a “thumbs-up”. And if you get enough “thumbs-up”, people browsing StumbleUpon will see it and click over to that page. So I always make it a point to “Stumble” my business websites’ homepages and sites that contain links to my business websites as well.

If you become an active member in a handful of Web 2.0 websites and utilize these first two suggestions alone, you will be amazed at the kind of traffic you can generate.

3) Engage in the conversations and activities
When I suggest above to become an active member I mean that you need to visit a few of your favorite Web 2.0 sites on a regular basis and actually contribute to the site with your opinions, votes, comments and submissions. For instance, if you like Digg or Newsvine, visit them often and submit quality articles, content and sites to them. And they don’t all have to be your sites.

In fact, the more impartial you are, the more people will trust you when you submit one of your articles. And you ought to vote for other people’s Digg submissions as well. You may enjoy Facebook, Linkedin ro MySpace. First, create a profile on the site, then go out and make connections within the community. The more you do this, the more you can harness the power of the people you meet to help market your website or yourself.

Visit and comment on blogs in your industry. This is another tried and true way to engage in the online conversation. Blogs are Web 2.0 and have been around for a while now. Unfortunately, leaving blog comments has been abused by so many people that you absolutely must only leave blog comments that contribute to the overall blog post.

Only add your website’s link if you’re asked to. These links won’t help your search engine rankings but can drive traffic to your site.

4) Encourage visitors to bookmark and tag your content
If you have a blog, add a feature that shows up at the end of every post that allows users to bookmark or submit your post to other Web 2.0 websites. ‘Share This’ is just such a blog add-on (or plug-in) that can do this for you. If you have a Wordpress blog you’ll be able to find a plug-in that allows you to integrate this type of feature (including Share This) into your blog very easily and without the need for any technical knowledge. If you write a memorable or compelling post, people can use this to make bookmarks to the post, Stumble it, Digg it and so forth. All of this can lead to more traffic.

5) Add a Web 2.0 feature to your website
First of all, your business website needs a blog. If you don’t have one, then stop reading this and go to it. A blog enables you and your employees an easy way to post new information that is relevant to your business and helpful to your customers. And it allows your customers to easily communicate with you by leaving comments.

But beyond a blog, what other Web 2.0 features can you add to your website? If you’re selling products, consider adding in a feature that allows customers to rate each product. It can be something as simple as one to five stars or more elaborate where they leave reviews. Amazon does this and it one of the major driving forces in their sales. When potential customers see that your products are rated by existing customers, they’ll be more likely to trust you and buy.

You could add a wiki to your website. A wiki is software that allows users to freely create and edit Web page content. By encouraging your website visitors to create content for you, you’re allowing your site to grow, become more informative and thus creating more chances to be found in search engines. These features can be found as third-party software packages and integrated into your existing website surprisingly easily.

The power of Web 2.0 is substantial. It’s time you begin to harness its potential and by following these five suggestions, you’ll be well on your way.

Internet Marketing Training Guide For Online Business Success

Filed under: Building Traffic — Nugu @ 12:00 am

Some people assume that when they are provided with a website the targeted visitors will automatically find their site without them having to do any internet marketing at all. The many misleading advertisements one sees online probably created this misconception.

Think for a moment about starting an ordinary business in town or at home. Your customers do not just flock through the door the minute you open the business. You would have had to let as many people as possible, who are looking for what you have to offer, know that you have opened a business.

So how do you attract customers? Firstly, you would draw up a marketing plan of action which could include for example a newspaper or mailing campaign, using word of mouth advertising or radio advertising, placing a sign on your car and putting up posters or handing out flyers and business cards.

It is just the same for marketing a business on the internet. When your website is up and running then you need to put a plan together and start marketing it online to attract as many targeted visitors as possible. Rather like attracting bees to a honey pot.

Marketing a business online can be done in many different ways. The more time and effort you commit to your internet business the quicker it will grow. It does take time to get established on the internet but the growth period is an exciting time.

You would need to put together an online marketing plan, where ideally you would select two or three internet marketing methods to focus on. Internet marketing is not difficult it just takes commitment and focused consistent work.

You will turn your website into a honey pot by building back-links to your site. A back-link is a link on another website pointing to your site. Basically the internet is a whole bunch of links all pointing to different sites and your aim is to constantly and consistently increase the number of links pointing to your site.

Building back-links can be done in a number of ways. Once you have chosen your keywords and optimized your website for the search engines, you can use internet marketing methods such as article marketing, forum posting, social bookmarking, 3-way linking, commenting on blog posts and submitting your site to the web directories to create links pointing to your website.

As the search engines find more links that point back to your site, the higher up in their search results your site will appear. When you are just getting started and have only a few back-links pointing to your site, your site may not even appear in the first 50 pages of the search engine results.

However, as you build more back-links, your site will start working its way up the rankings, until one day you find you are the first page of Google for your chosen keyword. As a result of this your online business website will start receiving lots of targeted traffic and best of all it is free.

Be sure to keep your website fresh and up-to-date by continually adding new and unique content. The search engines thrive on finding unique content to index.

Marketing an internet business online is something you never stop and the building phase of an online business is ongoing. You will certainly experience online business success if you maintain your top search engine rankings and stay ahead of your competition by continually increasing your back-links.

What Is The Best Way To Generate Targeted Traffic?

Filed under: Building Traffic — Netlyte @ 12:00 am

When you first start thinking about building a website and/or selling a product online, one of the most often heard pieces of advice is this: pick a niche.

Those in the know tell those who are learning to choose a specific subject to focus on and to center the website around it. To be sure, the stricter your niche, the better able you will be to generate targeted traffic to your website. Of course, even with a wide niche, there are several methods to generate targeted traffic to your website.

Here are a few hints to help you get started:

1. Ads. Purchasing ads through programs like Google Adwords is a great way to generate targeted traffic. Simply place your ads on the websites that would best act as a lead in to your own website and wait for the traffic to start flowing!

Often when you sign up for the Google Business services you will receive a free twenty five dollar certificate to get you started with the Adwords program. There are other advertising programs available, but Google Ads get the most traffic.

2. SEO. Search Engine Optimization is another way to generate targeted traffic to your website. This is done through by enhancing your website’s copy to highlight certain keywords and key phrases. There are plenty of sources on the internet to help you find the keywords and key phrases that are most popular when it comes to your website’s niche. Visit these websites and then add content to your website that highlights those keywords and key phrases. This will help your site place more prominently in the search engine rankings.

One very important tip when dealing with SEO: Don’t rely on SEO and high ranking for all of your targeted traffic. Instead you should have several different consistent methods to help you generate targeted traffic.

3. Article Marketing. Many people choose to write short articles and submit them to article directories. These articles focus on the same niche as your website and often serve as a sort of “sales page” to point readers to the website itself and encourage the visitors to click on your ads and buy your products. The more article directories you submit articles to, the more targeted traffic you will generate for your website.

These are just three tips to help you generate targeted traffic to your website (or the websites of your clients). Some simple research will help you figure out more ways to generate targeted traffic for your website’s niche or the products that you are selling.

Before long you will be an expert in targeted traffic for a website!

Website Promotion: Is Your Website Delivering? Find Out Why

Filed under: Building Traffic — SamiFab @ 12:00 am

You may have heard the statement, “the real Internet marketing secret is that there is no secret”. I personally like to say, “the secret is hidden in plain view”. Yes, the secret is hidden right in front of your eyes on your very own website.

So let’s take a look at some of these so called secrets. Below are just 3 startling secrets of what is crippling your website and your chances of getting the success you always dreamed about:

1- Website promotion is a total waste of your time if your site structure is not adjusted for your desired outcome when someone visits your site. The fix is dead easy when you match the structure to your actual goal for the website and the visitors.

So your task is to work out exactly what “you” want from your website visitors. Then set the structure that channels the visitor to take that action. With that structure in place you then have to match the traffic sources to deliver exactly the kind of visitor who suit your goal and that your goal suits them.

2- Pretty much all aspiring entrepreneurs are very poor at defining what it is they want from their website visitors. You’re reading this, so you are almost certainly suffering from this problem. There is no shame or stigma attached to this issue since you’re looking for the solution.

You’ve made a good start. Now you must follow through and complete your task. You must define what it is you want to happen on your website.

Numerous tests have shown that a single purpose website or web page is much easier to get right than a multipurpose one. But the more critical fact you should note is this:

A single purpose website is often enormously more successful than a multipurpose one. Website promotion is also a breeze for a single purpose website. By contrast there are no easy or quick options for promoting a website with multiple purposes.

By “single purpose” I mean you only have one desired outcome. For example, you may want to build a substantial following of readers with whom you build a rapport and long term relationship. This might best be achieved using a blog with a very narrow and well defined focus.

Why “narrow”? It specifies exactly the readership profile you want. Why “well defined”? the readership that ‘you’ desire will easily identify your subject matter and of course being exactly who you want, they will respond as you wanted.

I hope you noticed the message here. For clarity: the message is, it is much easier to please a group who want one thing than to please a mixed crowd who have different requirements.

In the latter case any offering of yours will only be suitable for small portion of the crowd. All the rest will be turned off by whatever you’re offering.

3- Do you know the difference between the top websites in your niche and yours? I bet you don’t know the huge differences. The good news they are really easy to fix.

And no I’m not about to tell you what the differences are. How could I possibly do that, without seeing your website and theirs? If anyone offers some magical solution then you should know you’re about to be conned.

What I can tell you is this: there are two broad types of factors called. on-page factors and off-page factors.

I’m not purely talking about SEO though that too is involved. There is much more to effective website promotion than just search engine optimization. You need to look at both types of factors.

So visit your greatest competitors and see what it is they’re doing. Get an expert to look with you. Cast a critical eye on their website and identify at least some of the standard best practices they’re engaged in. Emulate (not copy) those practices.

Right there, is a secret hidden in plain sight. Those best practices are there for good reason. As someone with over 20 years IT experience and over 15 years professional Internet experience, I can tell you this:

It is the combination of all those little differences and practices that puts your competitors right up there at the top. It is “simply” the lack of a whole list of simple items and components that is killing your website.

Just go through your site one step at a time. Fix these items one at a time. In a shorter time than you expect, yours will be the website that everyone else will see at the top of the field.

How to Get More Traffic Today

Filed under: Building Traffic — dougstuart @ 12:00 am

Web analytics software should tell you where people are clicking from to get to you. Are there ads you should do more of? Website traffic is essential no matter what your online goals are. For this reason it is very important to learn the best, and highest-yield tactics for getting traffic.

Webmasters would in days of old pile keywords at the top of their web page and some even tried to mask them at the bottom. Search engines have since gotten clever and they can spot keyword spamming a mile off. However professional webmasters get unlimited, targeted search engine traffic free of charge by playing by the rules and implementing white hat and ethical traffic tactics!

Social marketing is the current new wave added to most webmasters traffic tactics arsenal and is a fantastic resource if it is done properly.Posting in guestbooks on lenses is a privilege if you abuse that privilege (by posting self-promotional links, spamming the guestbook, being rude, or posting otherwise irrelevant or offensive stuff), then the lensmasters have the ability to flag your actions.

Post good quality articles at sites that are related to your blog content or to the sites that simply need someone to post articles to them. Try searching them in google then post a free classified ad on flugpo about your blog.By Giving a teaser from your post as the headline to your classified ad you should see a result based obviously on quality of post.If you are lucky enough to have produced some great content that people love then the page will get voted up and up and up and could eventually send you hundreds of thousands of visitors.

Link to those posts from your blog that’s right, link to them! Links are one thing, but straight links are a dime a dozen, they’re just not worth what they used to be. Sure, you can get some page rank but when it comes down to it, the power of return visitors is invaluable.

Start with the problem, add actions to resolve the problem, and conclude with results. Finally you need a biography box to seal the article. Start a blog for your business and update it on a regular basis as a business blog is an excellent tool to toot your own horn, let the world know about your new products, and tell your target customers why they should do business with you, rather than your competitor.Start article marketing today, and your results will grow quickly over time.

Imagine what you could do if you combined this approach with some other traffic generating techniques? Also pay careful consideration to what your content is about as Traffic matters alot on what content you are selecting to write on.

Google (like the other search engines) favour content that is new (therefore deemed more relevant) so if you update the website infrequently then you can expect to see fluctuations in your google traffic. Writing new content on a regular basis ensures that they index your website on a regular basis (seopher has new posts indexed within hours of posting).

Google xml sitemaps this plugin automatically generates and updates a sitemaps-dot-org compliant sitemap for your blog. Search engines like google, yahoo and ask use that sitemap format to aid their spidering robots efforts to index sites more completely.Search engines absolutely love keyword rich domains and will usually index them far faster.Google also says the best way to ensure that pages in your site are indexed is to build links to them.

Choosing a keyword rich domain name will also improve your chances of ranking higher in search engine listing thus increasing the number of visitors to your site.Search engines actually pay closer attention to what is included on a home page than what might be included elsewhere on a website. An important point to understand is that Searchers are looking for information they don’t want to be sold to.Search engines want searchers to have a good experience when they search and that means finding good information easily.

Submit sites about feeds only as submitting your site to directories does not only give you more hits, it also increases your link popularity.Ultimately the number of web pages linking to your site is considered an important factor by many search engines to achieve a high ranking.

Article submission is generally free, though software is available to speed up the process but can be expensive. Whilst there is free software available, the range of directories the free submission services submit to is very small, and does not generally cover the best sites. However I can assure you that Article writing is no where near as hard as it seems, it is a skill that you can learn, and once you learn the basics just keep writing and you will get better.

Sending traffic to other sites is fun to do especially when someone usually only gets 20 visitors on the average day, and a casual mention might send them hundreds or thousands. Everybody’s always asking me how to get more traffic to their site. Send out an all-points bulletin to your affiliates recognize their efforts in a big way and you will find that more of your affiliates will start to come up with great ideas of their own.

Targeted traffic helps you achieve your goal and that goal could be anything selling a product or a service, generating ad revenue or encouraging people to subscribe to your newsletter or rss feeds. So my advice to you in closing is if you look after your traffic then your traffic will look after you.If you do as i suggest then you will be well on your way to starting your internet empire and the final leg of your journey to total financial freedom.

Information Product Must Know Dos and Don’ts

Filed under: Building Traffic — richgroup @ 12:00 am

If you create an amazing eBook on a topic that fascinates you, don’t assume it will sell. Unless you identify your market and know how to find that market, you’re wasting your time. Savvy Internet product marketers don’t even start writing an eBook or choosing an affiliate product until they find an interested market.

Have you ever encountered a struggling student trying to sell magazine subscriptions by going door to door? He has something to sell, but you aren’t interested. So he spends hours searching for one customer at a time and missing the mark more often than making a sale.

What if he took a different approach and went to doctors offices, businesses or auto repair shops to sell magazines to places where customers had to wait and needed entertainment? That’s targeting his market to willing buyers.

You want to find large search counts, with little or no competition, for your best chances of success. Find out what people want, or want to solve, then you can develop or find information products that solve their problem. The bigger the problems, and the bigger masses, the bigger your paycheck will be.

In online marketing, you can do this much easier with a few mouse clicks. Start by listening into the conversation in your niche. The ‘conversation’ is found in discussion forums and Web 2.0 sites that are dedicated to the niche topic.

What questions are they asking? What information is difficult to find? What new twist do you pick up on using a product or concept already on the market? The answer to any of these questions can be the perfect start for identifying and developing an eBook.

Next, check out ClickBank eBook selections. Look in the section that best relates to your niche. What eBooks are offered that relate to this topic? Did you find existing eBooks that answer any of the questions you found from your conversation research?

If there’s an eBook that works, then consider using it as an affiliate product. You can use this product in your initial campaign, and then develop your own eBook that expands on this information or takes the information in a different direction.

While you’re researching, check Amazon and eBay to see if there are comparable information products. And what does a Google search show? You’re likely to find other marketers who are using similar information products.

Scan a dozen websites that use these products. You might find other products on their sites and see how they are presented. Copy these URLs for future reference to use in marketing your eBook directly to these sites.

If you just want to write about your obscure hobby, do it in a blog and a few people may read it. But if you want to sell information products, locate potential buyers and sample their interests before writing or marketing an eBook. That’s the way smart marketers use the power of the Internet to literally make money while they sleep.

Most Common Mistakes When Marketing A Site

Filed under: Building Traffic — andrews @ 12:00 am

As a website owner, your number one concern is how to generate as much traffic as you can to your site. There are several traffic generation techniques that work, but there are also several that do not. With the Internet as advanced as it has become, there is no room for implementing ineffective techniques and tactics that will lose you time and money. Although some have gotten lucky, the tactics noted below are those not even the experts try and implement.

Targeted traffic campaigns are basically sites that do nothing but anger people. Their spam, pop-ups, and domain squatting are sleazy marketing techniques reputable sites do not employ. Domain squatting is something that you have probably come across, most likely when accidentally typing in the incorrect address of a popular site. These sites setup misspelled domains and then cover them in advertisements making them landing sites, in effect. This is a traffic technique to avoid because it will only lower your credibility and anger people who visit your site.

The worst part about owning and creating sites like these comes from your traffic. Visitors who are particularly unhappy may also, in addition to never visiting your site again, report you to your host. This could lead to problems with your hosting service that you do not want to make part of your standard operating procedure. Such campaigns are usually bogus and end up a waste of money.

The second traffic generation tactic you want to avoid is the purchasing of classified ads. Very rarely will you be able to write a classified ad that will actually result in new traffic to your site. Such ads are also not targeted at all. In addition, their small size and location amongst so many others like them make them not stand out at all. Simply put, the chances of someone finding the ad are very slim, and even slimmer is the chance that they will be interested in your specific topic. Slimmer than that is the chance they will actually log on and search for your site. Combined with low conversion rates, all of these factors make the purchasing of classified ads a very ineffective tactic and result in wasted time.

The final and most destructive mistake made by want-to-be web titans when launching a site is sacrificing professionalism and being lazy. In this day in age, the internet has advanced so that, unless you are operating on a scale of the hundreds of thousands, implementing mediocre and shortcut tactics is not an effective way of reaching internet success.

With search engine gods like Google only granting riches to those sites who prove themselves, as well as many other money-making agencies, it does not pay nearly as much to invest time into creating sites that do not make the grade when being evaluated by such organizations. With all of the powerful moneymaking programs out there that reward good, solid websites, it does not make sense to spend your time working on anything else.

How To Generate Traffic With A Press Release

Filed under: Building Traffic — andrews @ 12:00 am

If you are a website owner, your main concern is how to bring traffic to your website. Traffic is the lifeblood of your site and drives your sales and advertising revenue skyward. Any marketing expert will tell you that a press release is a must for the launch of your website. A well-written press release during the launch of your website will compel thousands of viewers and generate waves to traffic to your site, almost all at once. Now that you have determined the need for a press release, now you need to learn how to write one and where to find a professional service.

There are numerous press release services you can find on the Internet, but PR Web is among the most popular and best. For their slightly pricey $500 service they can offer you several options to get you a lot of attention. Their service sends your release out to various newspapers, publishers, radio stations, webmasters, and numerous other press release services- all generating valuable traffic to your website.

If you would rather not spend the money, there are free submission services as well. There are also other, more affordable, plans that will generate you hundreds of view in traffic as well. Although seemingly steep, the $500 price tag PR Web offers can get you tens of thousand of hits on your site- pretty good traffic generation for simply cutting a small check.

One thing to keep in mind is that writing a press release is an art. The key is to make sure it sells your site without getting too pushy or hokey. Another important part of doing a press release to generate traffic is following the submission guidelines that the service you select requires. For example, some services require a character-per-line format, etc. You also have the option of including elements such as a telephone number, address, or byline too.

The most important part of a press release is how the actual release is written. Press releases are not exactly articles, but do have similar elements. When writing a press release, you want it to be compelling, informative, and exciting. In the body, you need to have a newspaper-like approach. That is, start with the most important and exciting details, increasing specificity as the work progresses. You want it to sell, but it is very important not to sound salesy- no reporter wants to read a commercial. Informative and exciting are your keys to generating the most traffic.

Crafting an effective press release will serve to bring a powerful surge of traffic to your site and will result in more revenue from both sales and advertising. In this modern world of countless websites, web owners are looking for more and more ways to generate bountiful and moneymaking traffic to their site. In addition to all of the time-tested ways that have been staples of Internet marketing, writing a press release for the launch of your site has become one of the more popular ways to jump-start websites into the highest paying page ranks.

With A Website Like Yours, You Don’t Need An Enemy!

Filed under: Building Traffic — SamiFab @ 12:00 am

Here’s your problem: you put your life and soul into creating your site yet you get nothing back. Your website takes your time, your money, your energy, your social life and pleasure of seeing your family and friends. Your enemy wouldn’t treat you much worse.

I know you want to make your website better. You want to make it more popular and get plenty more traffic to it. You’re prepared to do what it takes to provide a great visitor experience.

I know, you have time challenges. And I know you would prioritize your tasks to make your site successful, if only you knew which ones require top priority. You want to make the right changes to your site and then be rewarded by making money from your website.

I know, you know you have to do the above and more to make your website successful. So why is it that you website does you such a disservice? How do I know it does?

If your site was doing the best it possibly could you wouldn’t be reading this right now. In that case your site would be called Google or MySpace or Facebook or Wikipedia.

That’s how I know. If you don’t own any of those sites then here’s what you need to know …

Whether you want to climb the Everest or build a skyscraper or do anything else, it all happens with just one little step then another and another, until you get there. You may have heard the expression “the journey of a thousand miles begins with one little step”.

Making your website a real winner and a money spinner is no different. Find something that needs fixing. Fix it. And move on to the next.

It will not be long before you see real results. And you will see results while your friends are running after that “next great opportunity”, that “secret formula”. You know what I’m talking about.

So what can you do to your site that you haven’t already done? Get one friend who hasn’t seen your site to take look. Let him/her get a glimpse of the site for 5 - 7 seconds, no more.

See if he/she can tell what it’s about. You’ll be amazed at how many people can’t tell you the answer. Why is that important?

Well, that’s approximately how long new visitors to your site hang around before deciding whether to stay or not! And the average time all your visitors stay is just 7 seconds. That average includes all those who do decide to stay.

Obviously the others stay even less than 7 seconds. Fix your website so the visitors can immediately see the prime benefit of your site for them. Who is them?

“Them” are your most wanted visitors. So your website must talk to the people you most want to stay around and do business with you.

What else can you do for a money making website? Find a tool that shows you what your website’s ranking is in the major search engines for your primary keyword relating to your niche.

For reasons of impartiality I cannot recommend you a tool here or else people would spam these article sites. Search for phrases like “website ranking tool”, “search engine ranking tool”, etc.

Once you find your rank, do a search for your keyword. In the results pages go to your entry and observe the text that appears below your link.

Is that what you really want people to see? Is it really compelling for search clients to want to visit your website in preference to all others listed there?

The answer in pretty much all cases is no. So fix it. Oh and note, while you cannot tell the search engines what text to use, contrary to popular belief, you ‘can’ influence the tone, context and sometimes even the text itself. So do your best.

What else can you do? Well plenty. How about, not having fancy menus that appeal to your ego but confuse the ‘buyers’ and the search engine robots both. So the buyers don’t buy and the robots don’t give your website credit for this factor.

But that’s not all. You could among many others, find out what the latest website structure is, favored by both people and the search engines. Quick hints: table-less design, sitemaps for humans and search engines, a simple little thing called RSS, etc.

There’s more, if you want to know. The answers are all available online. But you’ve got to want to make money online. If you do then you must start that journey with just one little step. Take action and more action, step by step. Your friends will think you’ve found that secret magic for “making money from a website”! And I’d say, you really have.
