Tips For Effective Planning Of A Golf Tournament

Filed under: Golf — amitkheterpal @ 12:00 am

Golf tournaments provide opportunity for your club to get that desired recognition as well allow you to make a mark in the golf tournament scene. In addition, if you have a sponsor then that sponsor definitely benefits from the golf tournament by getting brand name recognition.

For planning that golf tournament you need to start planning well in advance and have a set of guidelines that will help you organize the tournament.

When you conceptualize the idea of a golf tournament then you need to make sure first of all that whether this event is going be an annual event or this is a one off event. That is important as that can mean a vast difference in terms of planning as well as corporate sponsorship.

Once that is decided you need to then start thinking about a venue for the tournament. That tournament can be had on a golf course which your club owns but if you are planning to host big names then you need to look out for a good venue. You need to decide that fast as that can be very challenging with a lot of competing tournaments trying for a good destination.

Next major thing is your sponsor for without those finances would be a tough thing to get. If you are organizing a tournament on behalf of a club then you can you need to get some sponsorship from the golf equipment manufactures such as golf ball manufactures or golf umbrella manufacturers. Then you can also try to get other sponsorships such as the gifts or the keepsakes for every player.

For effective planning and organizing you can do two things out of which one is an expensive approach and that approach is that you can outsource all these tasks to an event planning company. That company can actually take care of all the tasks with definitely project management oversight from you. The other way is to do all the tasks yourself which can be very challenging but it can be in your control.

For doing all the things yourself you will definitely need help from all the quarters you can get including having one or two assistants for administrative tasks. This is important especially when you interact with corporates for sponsorships or when you are writing invitation letters to golf players to participate.

The major thing to consider is the dates of the tournament which can likely impact the participation of players. To get maximum mileage you will need to have the press cover the event. Make sure that you call upon a big personality or a top government official as the guest of honor on the inaugural day well as the final day. That will definitely get you maximum press coverage.

There are other planning things that you need to take care of like the tournament format and the tournament coordinator. Then you need to plan for the stay of players as well as the transportation arrangement for the players.

For all the activities to be remembered is tough thing so make a checklist of all the activities with dates marked against each so that you are able to effectively mange and track all the things.

The author suggests having special golf tournament gifts from sponsors. These golf tournament gifts help give required brand awareness for the corporate sponsor.

How To Buy The Right Golf Balls

Filed under: Golf — aaausedgolfballs @ 12:00 am

Believe it or not, the golf balls you use can really have an affect on your game. Ever had a horrible day on the range? Or an unusually good day where you made every shot with ease? It could have something to do with the golf balls you choose.

Many golfers are playing with the wrong golf balls and they don’t know it. There are so many different balls available to choose from. One manufacturer can develop several different types of balls for different playing levels and budgets. You need to know how to buy the right golf ball to improve your game. It’s not enough to automatically choose the same golf balls as your favorite golfer. Most manufactures separate their balls into two categories: two piece and multi layer golf balls.

Two piece golf balls

A two piece golf ball is designed to be a distance traveling ball. It is made up of the core and a single cover.

They allow you to achieve maximum distance regardless of how fast you swing. Two piece balls usually perform like low spinning golf balls, and give you less sidespin when hit off center. They are cheaper to buy than multi layer balls since they use less material to make.

Multi layer balls

Multi layer golf balls are “three piece” or “four piece” balls consisting of a core, a second layer known as a mantle and a cover. These balls are a bit softer than two layer balls. This gives them a higher spin rate. The multiple layers that make up these golf balls transfers energy from the swing to give you greater distance. These balls perform well according to how they “feel” to an individual golfer. Since they can be more expensive, the best way to find out which balls perform the best is to try using a few different recycled multi layer balls first. This can save you the expense of buying a dozen balls that just aren’t right.

What type of player are you?

When you are looking for the right golf balls to help your game, you need to know what type of player you are, and the type of player you hope to become. For example, if you are a high handicap player who just wants to achieve more distance, a simple two piece ball will do the trick. If you want more back spin around the green to help you with your shots, a multi layer ball will work much better.

Finding just the right ball

Golf balls are more complex than many might imagine. Ball compression and the dimple count on your ball can affect the travel distance and spin. Again, the best way to find the best balls to enhance your performance is to try out a few different varieties first. Check with sporting goods stores to find out if you can purchase individual sleeves of golf balls instead of buying them by the dozen to save money.

Golf Clubs: How Should I Select Them?

Filed under: Golf — dasleben @ 12:00 am

If you’re looking to improve your handicap, look no further than a good set of golf clubs. An excellent set of clubs, personalized to your needs, will take strokes off of your game faster than you could ever imagine. The trouble is, many of you have probably noticed that many new and “breakthrough” products have come onto the market lately to cash in on the idea that people want to constantly improve their golf games. While many of these products may be worthwhile, many are simply snake oil products that are designed to get you excited about a set of golf clubs that really isn’t any more revolutionary than the set next to it that is half the price. Shop carefully for your clubs.

Before you start going out buying new golf club sets and other products, ensure that you’re playing at a level of play that would get you some benefit out of the new club. If you lack in the basic concepts of a golf swing, perhaps your money should be better spent taking golf lessons instead of in the pro shop drooling over the latest and greatest gadgets. Also ensure that when you’re exercising, exercise muscles that will strengthen your game and improve your swing.

So, what golf clubs are going to be necessary for you to actually purchase? Let’s keep it simple: you’re going to need a driver, a 3 wood, a 5 wood, and a god set of irons including a putter. In the rules of golf you’re not supposed to have more than 14 clubs in your golf bag, however when you’re first starting out feel free to have as many clubs as you want and simply experiment with what works for you. Again, this comes down the idea of not bogging yourself down with specifics when you should be simply trying to improve your golf game one step at a time.

For example: One of your best golf clubs is going to be the venerable 3 wood. This club is going to be the basis for most of the rest of your golf bag, so choose this wisely. This does not mean that you should go out and simply buy the first club you see, or conversely, the most expensive club you see. Your 3 wood should be chosen only after you spend time trying out different types of woods that fit your needs. Then, and only then, can you really feel confident about buying that particular club. While I use the example of a 3 wood, you should use this guide to help you select any club in your bag, including your putter. Don’t forget about just how important your putter is in your game.

How You Can Use Golf Art

Filed under: Golf — uniformconnection @ 12:00 am

Golf art is becoming more and more popular for artist to paint as well as for golfers to collect. I am sure some people will try to contribute the growing popularity to Tiger Woods however, golf art including golf prints have come into its own. With the detail that Linda Hartough and Diane Selby are able to paint with, you literally feel like you are there without closing your eyes. Collecting golf art can not only look good in your home or office but it can also be a good investment.

Whether you are looking to decorate a room in your house or your office, photos of male and female Tour pros, abstracts as well as painted landscapes of memorable golf courses are all popular. By using golf art, you can show some of your personality into your home or office.

Collectible golf art comes in many different forms. They would include autographed portraits and photographs, limited edition golf prints, lithographs and giclees. In addition, artist proofs are available for each. An artist proof is an extra drawing the artist does which elevates the value of the piece of art.

You can create your own golf art by framing scorecards of special golf courses that you have played or maybe to commemorate a hole in one. You can blow up maps of courses and create something to hang on your wall as well. No matter the size large or small, or if you have done it yourself or if it was done professionally, golf art adds a nice touch to any golfer’s home or office.

A framed golf print by Linda Hartough makes a thoughtful Christmas gift, retirement gift, anniversary gift, a birthday gift or a thank you gift to an important client. Golf prints are not just for men, either. The number of ladies playing the great game of golf is growing every year. They are buying more golf equipment, golf fashion and are more open than ever to purchasing golf art.

Linda Hartough has been commissioned by the USGA to create a painting of the golf courses that the US open is played on every year. Hartough’s painting of the 2008 US Open golf course, Torrey Pines celebrates the American golf landscape by masterfully depicting the selected par-3 hole. The amount of detail shows the dramatic canyons, the Pacific Ocean as well as the city of La Jolla in the distance. The panoramic sunset view from the elevated third tee marks Linda’s 19th commemorative painting for the U.S. Open Championship series. This golf print is available in a limited edition print or as an artist proof.

You can find golf prints and golf themed art online art galleries, finer retail golf stores, as well as various country club golf shops. As with any art, prices vary widely depending on the subject, the scarcity, the artist, and whether it is signed. It is best to find something that you like and can enjoy while you have it. This way if the value of the piece does go up while you have it is like sugar on top.

How To Create Lag In Your Golf Swing

Filed under: Golf — uniformconnection @ 12:00 am

Everyone wants to hit the golf ball farther and straighter. So what is the answer? Create Lag! This is what the good players and pros of the PGA, LPGA and Champions Tours do to hit the golf ball so far and straight.

OK, create lag. What in the world is lag in the golf swing? The easiest way that I can explain it to you here is that it is pulling the golf club with your body as opposed to pushing the golf club with your hands and arms.

Imagine that you are holding a bucket of water. As you try to swing the bucket of water, how will you go about making this happen? You will start turning your bigger muscles to make it happen. This will allow you to keep the water in the bucket. If you try to use your hands and arms to make this happen the water will start to come out of the bucket and get you wet!

Is there a drill that can help you create lag in the golf swing? Yes there is. Pick a target and address the golf ball as you normally would. Now for a right handed golfer, take your thumb and index finger of your right hand off of the golf club. Making your thumb and index finger to look like a gun will return the best results. Do not get lazy and let these two fingers start to curl back around the grip of the golf club. This will defeat the purpose.

So now you are asking, how does making my grip into a gun going to help me create lag in my golf swing? Think about it for just a second. Your thumb and index finger help you do most everything that you do during the day. You employ these two fingers to help you hold a fork, writing with a pencil or pen and many other things. Simply put, they are used to taking over whatever task you are trying to do. Taking your thumb and index fingers off of the golf club they cannot join the action. This makes the club heavier to you and allows the golf club to drop from the top of your backswing. This will force you to turn towards your target or use a larger range of motion, unless you enjoy hitting behind the golf ball!

When this is done correctly you will feel the golf club placing more pressure on the straight index finger since you are now pulling the golf club. That is the feeling of lag in your golf swing that you have created. Once you have done this drill and are comfortable that you now understand the correct feeling of lag in a golf swing, you can curl your fingers back around the grip. However, this time I want you to make your thumb and index finger touch. This allows you to get the same feeling without answering the questions on the golf course from your golfing buddies about what you are doing.

Understand the “gun grip” as I have come to call it, is legal and you can use it on the golf course. I have had students play very good eighteen-hole rounds utilizing the gun grip to create lag in their golf swing.

Multiple Ways A Golf Launch Monitor Will Improve Your Revenues

Filed under: Golf — uniformconnection @ 12:00 am

Golf Professionals have been able to create multiple streams of revenue for themselves with the use of a golf launch monitor. As these monitors play an important role in club fitting, golf professionals are able to help all skill levels including, beginners, mid-handicappers as well as low handicap golfers improve their golf game. The new technology allows the professional to study “the swing” in a way that has not been possible in the past. The good news is that there is more than one use for a golf swing launch monitor that will allow you to increase your yearly revenues.

The first way that a golf swing launch monitor will help you increase your revenue is by increasing the number of club fittings that you will conduct. Said very simply “everyone LOVES technology.” You will be able to get Mr. or Mrs. Jones the extra ten yards they have been seeking to improve their game by using the information form a monitor and finding the best launch angle and spin rate for them. Once they are hitting it longer it will not take ant time before they are telling everyone about the extra service that you provided. Even if they keep quiet, their golfing buddies that they are beating will be into see you to find out why they are not hitting it as far as Mr. or Mrs. Jones any longer. End result? You score again.

The same type of word of mouth can be used to increase revenues through your teaching program. Whether you are trying to find the correct yardage a student hits a club or trying to find the proper gapping, a launch monitor will help you do this. In addition, any good golf launch monitor will provide the following information: Ball Speed, Face Impact Position, Angle of Launch, Club Speed, Flight Time and Off Line Yards. With this information a student can monitor their improvement during their lesson. Imagine this, at the beginning of the lesson your students Driver Speed is 97 and at the end of the lesson they are swinging it at 103! This is something they can measure and it brings credibility to your teaching. Again, you are providing a service that your customer can not get just anywhere.

The third way to improve your revenues while using a golf launch monitor is to rent them for corporate outings or parties at the club. Not only do you receive the revenue from the rental it is a great way to promote your teaching as well. With the information given on the monitor, you could have a long drive contest or a straightest drive contest for their event or party. The best part is if it rains, you can still hold the contest and that revenue is not lost to you.

These are just a couple of the many ways that golf launch monitors will increase your revenue. Whether you work at a private golf club, municipal course or a driving range, purchasing a golf swing launch monitor will bring more money to the company’s bottom line and more money into your very own pocket!

3 Things To Stop Three Putting

Filed under: Golf — uniformconnection @ 12:00 am

You have heard it many times. The quickest way to lower your score is to improve your putting. To play golf at a high level, the game is about making birdies. Being blunt, the better players rarely three putt. This means that they are making putts and are confident putter under pressure. The better players work at it and it will take some practice time to work with your stroke too. The three drills below are great practice and they will teach you not to move or peek at your putt. These challenges get worse as the heat is turned up and the pressure increases on your putting stroke. You should also work on creating a repeating pre-shot routine so when a big putt needs to be holed, the focus is on holing the putt. Use these drills below. You will see an improvement in your putting and more importantly your pressure putting.

KEEP YOUR HEAD STILL -
You should hold your head still to keep the putter on path throughout the stroke and there are many ways to do this. If you travel, you can practice this at home or in a hotel room. Take your putting stance. Make sure the top of your head is touching the wall and as you take your stroke you should not be able to feel your head move off of the wall. If you do you have too much motion in your putting stroke your head will stay on the wall. Another way to do it is to incorporate a friend. While you swing your putter back and through, have your friend place his/her hand on top of your head to hold your head still. This also provides instant feedback to you. If you are by yourself, take a putting stroke and after the ball is gone, look at the spot where the ball was and slowly count to three and listen for the ball to fall into the putting cup. Although counting to three will seem like an eternity, this is the key to become a good putter under pressure.

KEEP YOUR EYES CLOSED -
After you line up a short two to three foot putt. Simply, close your eyes. Closing your eyes will encourage you to really feel the movement of your arms and you will find that the slower your arms move, the more consistent you will putt. You will also become much better at your distance control.

KEEP A STABLE BASE -
This drill will help you keep your lower body in place during the putting stroke. Take your putting stance. Then wedge a rubber ball between your knees. You can use a cheap kids ball or a volleyball. You will need to squeeze the ball slightly to create a solid foundation and not to let the ball drop from between your knees. Eventually, you will develop the feeling of stability. Keeping a stable base is a fundamental of a consistent putting stroke.

5 Tips For Improving Your Golf Swing

Filed under: Golf — boggle @ 12:00 am

If you are trying to learn how to play golf, or just trying to improve your game, you most likely understand how important a good golf swing is to your game. There are some basic tips that all golfers either need to know, or already follow with regard to the swing. Following you will see what they are:

1. An accurate golf swing is really not about your arms. This can be described as putting your golf club behind your back, at the same time turning your back to the green. If you are thinking less about where your arms are, or where they will be, you won’t be so likely to bend your elbow as you swing. It’s important to cock your wrists. Be sure to cock your wrists at a 90 degree angle as your left arm is parallel to the ground. This will help you take your golf club back straight without having to actually THINK about doing it.

2. Remember to allow your left arm to roll just a little clockwise at the beginning of your back swing. You don’t usually have to remember to do this. This can happen automatically if you let it. All you have to do is not resist the natural movement.

3. Keeping your feet on the ground is important. You see many golfers letting their front heels come off the ground while executing their golf swing. This is really not needed. This action really just makes creating the proper tension in your body that much harder. It is fine to let your foot roll to the inside, but also keep it on the ground to anchor your swing.

4. Remember that the golf down swing starts from the bottom. Even if you do everything right with your golf grip, stance and back swing, you can still ruin it all by starting your golf down swing with your shoulders.

5. To get the golf down swing right, turn your hips towards the target. This little tip can improve your golf swing so that your drives start going straighter and longer. If you turn your hips toward the target as fast and hard as you can, you will see a great improvement overall.

By following the above suggestions, you should be noticing quite an improvement in your golf swing pretty quickly. It may be hard to adjust to doing something differently, but if you have been doing it wrong all along, it is time to learn the right way. It’s worth it to make your game better.
