There are many ways by which a horse health gets affected. The first and foremost thing is the lack of shelter and dirty water. Horses which live in fields are exposed to scorching sun, rain and germs. Some of the horses consume stagnant water that is available in ponds and ditches which are contaminated. So as a horse owner what are the protective measures you have to take to protect your horse?

Below are some of the safety measures to be taken in order to take a good care of your horse:

1) Horses which live in the barn must be checked twice daily. Provide them with proper food and water periodically. Groom your horse regularly (at least once in two day), because it helps to clean the skin and it prevents hair tangling. Dust and tangled hair decrease your horse capacity to keep itself warm and also leads to skin diseases.

2) Depending on the features of the pasture, your horse needs additional feeding. Offering mineral block for your horse in the barn provides a good resource of nutrients. If you find that your horse has lost some weight, then increase the amount of grain you supply to it. By increasing the amount of grain you provide, your horse gets more nutrition and will be healthy.

3) A horse living in the barn offers you low-maintenance and less time dedication compared to a stable horse. At the same time you must not neglect it because horses need a lot of care and protection. Monitoring your horse on a regular basis will keep your horse stay healthy and fit.

For a horse, proper foot care is as important as proper diet and sufficient exercise. A horse spends the majority of its time on its feet and is by nature, relentlessly on the move, even while grazing quietly. Unlike with some other animals, this regular movement is critical to the horse’s digestive systems.

Therefore with precautions training and treatments you will be pleased to have your own horse. Horses are a sort of animal which need a significance life just as much as any other creature. So only by proper care and guidance a horse can be healthy and fit.
